Between Two Gazes

Between Two Gazes is a quiet conversation rendered in confident color and clean geometry. At first glance it’s a study of direction and distance: a self-portrait cast in warm ochre looks up, while a woman in red turns back—two lines of sight forming a diagonal of intent across an architectural plane. The simplicity of that arrangement is deceptive. Beneath it, Sam Kerekes’s layered digital technique translates photographic detail into painterly surfaces that feel both immediate and timeless.

This piece is born of Sam’s dual sensibility—rooted in the histories and textures of Central Europe and tempered by the light and openness of Australia. The result is not a literal scene but a distilled narrative: the ochre glow suggests memory and interiority; the red dress implies presence, allure, or perhaps a moment of departure. Together they create tension and calm, a story that invites the viewer to linger and wonder rather than demand an answer.

Technically, Between Two Gazes showcases Sam’s process: he begins with a photograph, selects the surrounding colors and shapes that speak to him, then allows drawing intuition and digital layering to guide the transformation. The architecture becomes not just backdrop but stage—flat planes and arcs that lead the eye, while confident color choices—warm golds, cool blues, vivid reds—anchor mood. The overall effect is meditative: a visual pause that both focuses and soothes.

There’s an intimacy here that’s also public. The work is immersive without being overwhelming; interactive in the way it asks you to complete the story. Is this a memory looking for recognition? A meeting deferred? A moment of self-reflection confronted by an outside world? Each viewer supplies their own answer, and that exchange—between image and observer—mirrors the simple exchange inside the frame.

For interiors, Between Two Gazes offers more than decoration. Its balanced composition and controlled palette give it presence without noise, making it a refined choice for modern living rooms, office spaces, or galleries where conversation is welcome. It adds a meditative focal point that both anchors a room and sparks questions.

Sam often says, “One lifetime is not enough to learn all about it. Once you experience the Hungarian way of thinking, acting and celebrating you will be drawn to it like magic. Your soul will be filled with love, peace and power.” Between Two Gazes is a small testament to that belief—a piece that channels cultural memory and contemporary technique into an artwork that calms, provokes, and invites discovery.

If you’re looking for art that starts a conversation and holds a quiet center, this is a work to spend time with. Let your gaze travel along that diagonal. See what stories arrive.

World Peace and Freedom Tower Lapel Pin

There are objects that speak quietly but insistently — small reliquaries of idea and intent that, when held, ask you to remember what matters. The World Peace and Freedom Tower lapel pin is one of those objects: a 4 cm gold-finish emblem that compresses history, hope, and a cosmopolitan identity into a single, geometric silhouette.

At first glance the pin is simple — clean lines, a tower-like motif, a polished gold surface catching light. Look closer and the story deepens.

Sam’s Explanation of World Peace and Freedom presents a compact study of symbols: two runic ROVÁS elements, H and GY, combine to form a tower while the H base encloses four runes—B, É, K, E—spelling “béke” (peace). The design reveals connections between ancient Hungarian rovás signs and the Magyar coat of arms, layering historical meaning over a crisp, digital composition. Simple, deliberate geometry and restrained detailing make the piece suitable as a small sculpture or a wearable lapel pin, offering an accessible point of cultural reflection. A thoughtful accent that will enrich your space or collections.

 Artwork

Tiny gemstones punctuate the piece: red, white, and green nod to my Central European roots and the colours that shaped my earliest memories; a blue stone mirrors our Earth and the vastness of southern skies and oceans, a quiet tribute to the Australian chapters of my life.

If you’re drawn to symbols that carry meaning rather than mere ornament, the World Peace and Freedom Tower lapel pin is a small but powerful piece of wearable storytelling — compact, confident, and quietly uncompromising in its message.

ROVÁS ART;
Samu Kerekes re-imagines ancient forms as bridges, pillars, and thresholds that symbolize
passage and connection. His recurring three-dot motif, representing Orion’s Belt, introduces
a cosmic guide above these architectural structures. Swirling skies, celestial light, and an
earthy palette blend mythic atmosphere with digital abstraction. Through this fusion of
heritage and cosmology, ROVÁS ART invites viewers to reflect on journeys between worlds—both
personal and universal.

"Blush Outline" presents a delicate rose, where soft hues of pink emerge through subtle digital
lines and shading. The artwork reflects a blend of natural beauty and thoughtful simplicity,
inviting quiet contemplation. With its gentle interplay between color and form, this piece
conveys a serene and curious mood—an ideal addition to enrich your personal space.

  More about my self;
I was growing up in a historically rich region of Central Europe—within the former Hungarian
Kingdom territory of the Carpathian Basin—I was deeply shaped by a vibrant, multicultural
environment. This diverse upbringing has profoundly influenced my artistic perspective and
creative expression.

I began my journey in digital photography in 2015, initially as a passionate hobbyist.
Over the years, my dedication and curiosity have led me to create a portfolio of more than
2,000 works. My art is a testament to the inspiration I draw from my heritage, and to my
commitment to exploring new dimensions of visual storytelling by using the latest technology.

Golden Hour of World Peace

 Golden Hour of World Peace

This piece reflects the tension and fragmentation of our current world, contrasted with the enduring presence of light. The golden hour symbolizes a fleeting yet ever-present opportunity—a moment that exists not in the future, but now.
Peace is not something we wait for; it is a passage we choose to step into, again and again.

ROVÁS ART by Samu Kerekes is a multidisciplinary practice that explores cultural identity, memory, and connection through digital photography, digital drawing, and contemporary visual media. Rooted in Hungarian heritage and shaped by life in Australia, the work transforms everyday surroundings into immersive compositions that invite reflection, curiosity, and emotional engagement.

Through a balance of clarity, symbolism, and modern technology, each piece seeks to bridge tradition and innovation while expressing themes of belonging, transformation, and shared human experience. www.art4yourspace.com
